PossAbilities services are geared for people with disabilities of all ages, from pre-school to seniors. Our specialty is assessing each client and determining how they’ll be best served. This individualized approach is what our clients and their families cherish most about PossAbilities.
Customized Support
The hallmark of PossAbilities Customized Support is providing the best services according to each person’s needs. Our array of services help families choose, direct and administer their own ongoing supports for their loved one with disabilities. Through our engaged, mindful process we have assisted hundreds of people in being successful in taking control and maintaining a high quality of life. We are certified by the state of Minnesota as a Fiscal Support Entity.

Life Enrichment Services
This program serves people with disabilities who are considered high need. Our staff integrates Life Enrichment clients into the community for activities and volunteerism during outings such as scrapbooking, helping at the Salvation Army and Goodwill, exercising at the mall, bowling, swimming, reading groups and library trips.
During their in-center hours clients and staff focus on:
- Laundry
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Social cues
- Hobbies

Retirement Services
Designed for clients over age 50 who may have a secondary diagnosis of cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, mental illness or traumatic brain injury. PossAbilities staff is trained in dementia and related aging issues and work within a beautiful facility specifically designed for serving those with dementia. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Points of pride:
- Fenced-in backyard with shelter and butterfly garden
- Flexible scheduling per client, including part-time options
- Mingling of semi-retired and fully-retired
- Activities such as exercise, cooking, arts and crafts, games, current events, aroma therapy
- Opportunity for community outings 2-3 times per month
- Delivery of Meals on Wheels and cleaning of Goose Egg Park
- Twice monthly visits from a massage therapist

Supported Employment
Supported Employment Services assist individuals with developmental disabilities in obtaining and maintaining employment. PossAbilities uses a person-centered, individualized approach to help our clients develop meaningful careers and balance their work and personal lives.

Our Supported Employment Program offers a wide range of options for individuals looking for work. Whether in the community, in-center, one-on-one, or as a group, we strive to find the perfect job that best meets the abilities and desires of each individual. We welcome all individuals with developmental disabilities to come join us and see how we can help you train for and find the job of your dreams.
School to Work Transition
This program is designed for students who are ages 18-21 who are still technically in high school and will graduate on an IEP at age 21-22. These students are transitioning out of high school and into the work environment. We provide them with the job skills they need to find employment. Our program was designed in conjunction with the public school system to identify skills this population needs to succeed.
Program highlights:
- Students with disabilities undergo workforce training to determine their marketable skills
- Students apply for appropriate jobs where they have an increased chance of achieving employment
- Staff provides assistance with cultivating increased partnerships with local businesses to develop jobs that fit the skills of School to Work students
- More students enter the adult workforce with skills that can lead to long-term employment

Stepping Out
Our targeted age group for this program is young adults who have graduated from high school and are experiencing a period of transition. Stepping Out provides activities that foster independent living skills, recreational skills and life- long leisure skills.
Programs and discussions focus on:
- Fitness
- Cooking
- Library trip
- Volunteerism
- Financial budgeting
- Time management
- Social skills
- Appropriate behavior
- Leisure pursuits
- Cleaning and laundry
- Community integration
Stepping Out utilizes a group philosophy while maintaining each individual’s wants and needs when planning activities. Program hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with some weekend programming available.

Youth Recreation
Youth Rec serves children with disabilities from its home base at the Rochester Area Family Y and provides transport as necessary. Staff works one-on-one or with a small group (2-4) of kids to integrate them into regular sporting activities including swimming, horseback riding and a variety of gymnasium activities.
Among those served are kids with:
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- Down’s Syndrome
- Seizure Disorders
During the school year Youth Rec offers programming after school hours and on alternating Saturdays. Programs run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the summer months. Kids attend a variety of integrated summer camps including gymnastics camps, YMCA day camps, nature camps and a variety of Community Education camps.
